WELCOME TO WORLD WATER ASSOCIATION
Over 1.0 billion people worldwide lack access to a safe source of water. Over 2.5 billion people lack the means for safe sanitation. This problem--collectively known as the global water crisis-- is an acute and devastating humantarian crisis.

By 2030, nearly half of the world's people will be living in areas of acute water shortage.

“Population growth will make the problem (the world water crisis) worse. So will climate change. As the global economy grows, so will its thirst. Many more conflicts lie just over the horizon,” U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned when he addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland January 2008.

More alarming facts and urgency for actions can be found in the United Nations' third report "Water in A Changing World".

The excellent and powerful photo essay from Time magazine and the book Blue Planet Run track mankind's vital struggle to provide safe drinking water to the one billion people who lack it.

Business Week's photo essay shows some of the world's most water-challenged countries.
